Apologies on the delayed post to a trip that ended months ago...
This summer a couple of friends and I chartered an Athena 380 catamaran in San Antonio, Ibiza, Spain. The week long excursion gave me an opportunity to skipper a rather big 4 cabin catamaran. The weather was in our favour for the most part with constant sunny days, although, there were a couple days that stronger winds would have helped.

Usually, we harboured nightly in San Antonio with daily excursions sailing the local coastline and evenings anchored off the famous 'Cafe del Mar'. As well, for two nights, we sailed to Formentera and anchored just off shore, taking the dingy to shore for meals and shopping. The coastline is quite beautiful around these Balearic Islands, the water is a magnificent blue and beckons swimming.
I suppose my procrastination for this post is partly due to the fact I the trip seemed like a repeat. Granted, I had never experienced Ibiza and Formentera the same way, but the experience of the nightlife and tourist-traps seemed all to familiar. Perhaps, in the future, chartering a vessel in some place new, like through some Greek island will quench my thirst for a new experience.
I had left my small group to return to Canada as they continued on for a few days. I had one more night in Barcelona, and in the late evening, strolling down Las Ramblas I was pick-pocketed on my way back to my hostel. The following morning proved quite interesting as I attempted to make it to the airport with no wallet and nothing but a couple of coins in my pocket. On the flight home, the generosity of the woman sitting next to me on the plane, provided me with the lions share of Canadian currency I'd need for a taxi home.
