Reconnecting With My Mojo

After a week or so in Sydney I hopped aboard a Mojo Surf bus for a 5 day trip up the coast. I have done this tour about a year ago but going south. This time I will be heading on the north route from Sydney to Byron Bay.

First two nights we stay at Crescent Head, a secluded camp with just our bus group. Each day a 7am rise for breakfast, two kilometer walk down the beach, surf for two hours, walk back, lunch and back out again for a couple of hours. Each night after dinner and some socializing it’s off to the fire under the stars for copious amounts of consumption.

Next two nights, Arrawarra Headlands at Mojo’s Spot X. It’s a bit livelier camp as we share the location with other bus tours. 6am rise and shine with a 7am surf time, lunch and out again for the afternoon. Evenings are drinking games and well, getting loose.

As I had discovered on my previous Mojo trip, it is possible to consume a full bottle of vodka and still get up to surf the next morning. When you paddle out in the cool water all seems to become well again. However, if one finds them selves being dragged under the surf and thrashed about like a load of laundry under the waves, ones head seems to experience a certain aching from the said thrashing (and maybe a bit of vodka aftermath) and it makes for a hasty paddle past the breaking waves just so calmer water may be reached... to lay comatose, exhausted on the board.

A special thanks to Mother Nature for giving me sun, warm water, and nice waves… rather that that shite, raging whitewash, cyclone aftermath you dished out last year!
