Berlin in the Rain

A 10 hour overnight bus took me from Vienna, Austria to Berlin, Germany (via the Czech Republic). Note: never, I repeat -never- rapidly devour a suspect street-meat kebab before hopping on a bus that twists in the dark over bumpy roads in the in southern Czech Republic. It was an early arrival in Berlin at 6am but I managed to get some rest throughout the day at a friends apartment before heading out in the evening.

My friend Katrin and I spent the next couple days doing the tourist-in-the-rain activities including; shopping for a hat, utilizing a hop-on-and-off sight seeing bus through the city, visiting the 'Sea Life' aquarium, snapping a photo by a piece of the Berlin Wall and walking through the very unique and impressive Holocaust Memorial. The "Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe" is made up of a series of 2,711 large concrete slabs of varying heights. As I'm sure it was intended, the ordered and uniform grid of cubes surprisingly disorientates and confuses ones senses - you feel quite lost from the people that are just around the corner.
